"Veteran of the Psychic Wars" is among the best tracks ever recorded by Blue Oyster Cult. Is it top 10 material? It depends on my mood, but the song gets extra points for being as good as it is without ever really sounding like a BOC song. Eric Bloom is the man primarily responsible for the songs, with lyrics courtesy of a pen pal relationship he had with author Michael Moorcock. My first concept for the poster was an '80s cyberpunk/Blade Runner-esque action movie, replete with neon, wet asphalt and that "eternal night" look prevelant in so many films of the decade (Streets of Fire, Batman, Vamp, etc.). But eh. A song like this deserves something to really melt the eyes, so I turned to bronze age comics and DC-era Jack Kirby for inspiration. Kirby Krackle! Four-color halftones! Misaligned CMYk plates! There's something for everybody, even if that "everybody" is just "me."
